At last - an honest assessment of the industry

Gearbox Pitchford: Customers Sometimes Don't Want Quality
There is one thing that can be said for Gearbox head Randy Pitchford, he's very honest when it comes to his assessment of gamers and of the industry at large.

Poor reviews (or in our case, a caustic one) of nostalgia-cash-in Duke Nukem Forever haven't upset Randy too much because he knows what the industry is all about at its basic level.

So, he tweeted:

"With sales data, It seems like *customers* love Duke. I guess sometimes we want greasy hamburgers instead of caviar..."

At last! An honest CEO who sees people as customers and realises that all you need to do is dish up some vaguely playable gaming as long as the brand is there to support it.

Sigh.

I don't think you can quote sales figures as proof that customers like a "new to the market" product. Those sales figures are simply proof that you've got your marketing right.

reviews aren't everything, it depends on the type of person you are.
i have bought and played games where reviewers have slated the gameplay but i liked it (at this present moment none come to mind and since i have traded in my entire game collection to pay bills i cant gi through them and find out )
