Ubisoft tends to be both weird and filled with games no one actually cares about. Last year there was a laser tag game that I don't remember ever materialising. There was also a breathing game for the Wii. It used its own peripheral but again, failed to be released. One can only imagine what they come up with this year.
25th anniversary for Ubisoft this year, they are starting off with a new Rayman game; Rayman Origin. It's a co-op multiplayer game on 360 and PS3 with very pleasing cartoon graphics with in jokes aplenty. Possibly one to watch! Oh and yes I do realise I may have to eat my words on that upon it's release. Players can hit each other in the game, in a similar way to LittleBigPlanet.
Driver San Francisco is on offer next and so far this game has generated a lot of interest and positive feedback. The game is also in the show floor, so I'll be taking a look at it there.
Moving on to Far Cry 3, looking as amazing as did the second game. Arriving in 2012, it will be at the Ubisoft booth. No sign of malaria pills mind you or rusty weapons.
Now Gearbox are showing off Brothers in Arms: Furious 4. Similar to Inglourious Basterds in flavour, has four over the top characters. No gameplay footage, but it will be on the show floor.
Skipping past TinTin, the game we have Ghost Recon Future Soldier. It has civilians in it, not something I recall other games in the series having. Objectives shown on the screen in a similar way to Splinter Cell Conviction. Multiple camera views for managing the ghost team, eases coordinated attacks. The game looks like very much an impressive addition to the series.
Ghost Recon Online is the free to play game for the PC. Beta applications are open up soon, the paid for versions will link with the free game.
Trackmania 2 is being published by Ubisoft. Primarily a PC game, it's about beating the track than other racers. The game will be out in September. Shootmania, Questplanet are joining a new platform called planet mania. No details on what these 2 other parts of planet mania wil be, but I think we can guess from their titles...
The next game is another Ravin Rabbits title that is a Kinect exclusive. Uses augmented reality for people to interact with the little critters. *sigh*
Oh quelle surprise! Just Dance 3 is heading to all motion platforms. Way to milk that franchise Ubi!
Rocksmith teaches the early concepts of guitar playing. It allows real instruments to play along with the game. I will reserve judgement until I play it for myself.
And Ubisoft signed off with Assassin's Creed Revelations, there is a link between the original game and AC2, hence the title :) Set in the same places as the original game, only in the 1500's,it follows Etzio's quest to find out what happened to his predecessor. Smoke bombs make an appearance, as do amazing set pieces and an improve graphical engine, if that's even possible! The game arrives in November 2011.
