E3 2011: Opinion - EA's Press Event Round-Up
Kicking off with Mass Effect 3. Earth has been invaded by the reapers, mission shown off has orbital strikes and attacks via Normandy. The scale of the combat is of a larger scale than previously. 6/3/2012 issue date.

Now we have NFS the Run. Cross country race across the USA. Includes autologous from Nfs Hot Pursuit. Now the game has player leaving the car. Uses frostbite engine. The running appears to be a series of quick time events. Didn't they learn from Interstate '76, don't leave the car!

SWTOR will have hands on as well as raid play and large boss battles on show. New trailer, but nothing on release date :(

SSX makes a return in January 2012. This is a good thing! Features an open world that has used NASA data for map design. The game is on the show floor for hands on play.

FIFA continues to dominate with 42 million copies have been sold. FIFA 12 being shown off at the EA press conference for the first time. New defence system as well as improved dribbling. player impact engine has been in development for two years that adds impact physics during player contact. Also launching EA Sports Football Club. New social networking system within FIFA 12. People can choose their team and have that tracked against the real world releases. They can then replay those matches online.

The Sims Social is a facebook game that is squarely aimed at teenage girls, unashamedly.

Kingdoms of Amalar The Reckoning made 38 studios is a new fantasy rpg. Looks stunning from the demo reel, but proof will be in the pudding. One can only hope it will be on the show floor to check out.

Insomniac announce a multi-platform game, OverStrike. Set in the near future has the player take control of a team of rogue agents, all with unique abilities. No gameplay footage shown, but again it may be on the show floor.

Finally we have Battlefield 3. Uses Frostbite 2 engine and looks amazing. Very large landscapes and destructive environments. The game also boasts a new service called Battlelog that tracks player's stats.

The game is set in the near future, it has current weapons being used including vehicles. Weapons fire arcs with gravity. Remote cameras can be used to create targets for artillery.

Visually it's beyond compare. I suspect a beefy PC is needed to get it to look this good. Release date is 25/10/12.
