With Call of Duty practically the 'Hollywood' of computer games these days, it makes sense that Activision is cooking up a web TV series to further expand the franchise. Said TV series is going to come as part of the subscription package to the Call of Duty Elite service.
Activision's Eric Hirshberg told the Guardian that "top Hollywood talent" has been signed up to create "linear video content" inspired by the franchise, which will only be available to those who pay for the recently-announced player statistics service.
"If you're a sports fan, there are lots of ways for you to connect with that hobby, that passion, not just on the day that the games are played, but throughout the week, and we wanted to give [Call of Duty players] real entertainment value," Hirshberg said.
"We're not going to give much more detail until we have something to show. That'll be later in the year."
