Japanese publisher Enterbrain likes to take an industry punt every now and then, and today it has predicted that Nintendo's 3DS will be the best-selling console in the country in 2011.The estimation comes despite an initially slow start which has seen the PSP maintain its dominant position on the Media Create handheld console chart. Nevertheless, Enterbrain is looking at a total of 2,868,000 3DS unit sales before the end of the year, compared to 2,378,000 PSP units.
Nintendo's 3DS sold under 1 million units in its first three months on sale, leading analysts to suggest that the hardware was launched before any killer-app software could properly market it to the public. Three quarters of that one million figure was sold in the first month of the console's shelf life.
Here's the rest of the Enterbrain forecast:
DS: 1,545,000
PS3: 1,469,000
Wii: 948,000
NGP: 547,000
Xbox 360: 122,000
PS2: 48,000
