L.A. Noire has been in development for a long time. As a result, there appears to be a hell of a lot of content packed into the final product - publisher Rockstar has confirmed that the game will be shipping on three Xbox 360 discs, and has completely rammed a PS3 Blu-ray disc with data.
"L.A. Noire was always going to be a massive game, from the size and detail of the world to the length of the cases, and of course, the sheer amount of MotionScan data required for the faces of over 400 actors in-game," a spokesperson for the company told Kotaku.
"To tell the story and make the game we wanted to make, we knew that it was going to take an entire single layer Blu-ray disc and three Xbox discs." The publisher added that disc-swapping will be "hassle-free" and set at "natural breaks" without affecting the game's flow.
It doesn't look like the content will stop at the physical media side either, with Rockstar noting that the flow of the game's story allows for planned DLC that will be structured like stand-alone cases. Exciting stuff, then.

wow. looking forward to this. not that many open world narrative games these days which reminds me, hope Shenmue III will eventually become reality.
