Matsushita has revealed some interesting and surprising details relating to its GameCube DVD hybrid machine.
The console will be able to read recordable media, including CD-R, CD-RW and DVD-R, in addition to DVD movie discs, audio CDs and GameCube game discs.
This is all well and good but must surely present Nintendo with a certain amount of concern. The whole point of making the GameCube game discs 80mm was to make piracy difficult or impossible. This news might throw this plan into jeopardy.
Nintendo was not willing to comment on this but will issue a statement soon.
