Richard and Douglas Hare - who made their gaming cash in the USA with titles such as Wrath Unleashed, Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Marc Ecko's Getting Up - are returning to Scotland with their Outplay game dev company and, according to The Scotsman, "£2.25 million in regional selective assistance support from Scottish Enterprise."The brothers are intending to use Dundee as the base of operations for Outplay Entertainment, "to focus on the development of new games for use on smart phones and social networking websites such as Facebook."
CEO Douglas Hare told the paper, "From the earliest days of the industry, Scotland has built a reputation for creativity, inspiration and innovation, with the right skills, the right people and the right support - all in the right place."
The company hopes to employ 150 staff - and will go some way to fill the gaping hole left by the closure of Realtime Worlds.
