Remember Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine on the Sega Mega Drive? Well, it wasn't actually a Sonic game - if you know your puzzle games, you'll know that it was a localised version of Puyo Puyo. The 1992 arcade version of which is set to appear on the Wii's Virtual Console Arcade in Japan.
Sega has announced that, to celebrate the bean-busting series' 20th Anniversary, it will be re-releasing the title with the added bonus of online gameplay. Using additional Wi-Fi functionality, players can engage in multiplayer from across different consoles. It's the first Virtual Console game to have Wi-Fi support.
Puyo Puyo will hit the Virtual Console Arcade service in Japan this Spring and will cost 800 Wii Points. Now we just need a reason for it to arrive on our Western digital shores. Come Sega, do it already!
