Unfortunately the company cannot see commercial viability in supporting the platform with games in Japan, and has cancelled several high profile titles.

Metropolis Street Racer, Space Channel 5 Part 2, Propeller Arena, NFL 2K2, NBA 2K2 and House of the Dead 3 will now not be released for Dreamcast in Japan.

Sega has now ceased production of the Dreamcast console, with the total of hardware units reaching only 11 million since the console was released in 1999. The heart of the Dreamcast will live on however, with the processor and motherboard set to continue production for use in pachinko and gambling machines in Japan.
