Final Fantasy XIII-2 Hitting Europe 'Next Winter'

Striking Lightning.

Well that was quick. Square Enix - usually extremely vague on European release dates - has announced a slightly less vague launch window for Final Fantasy XIII-2. It will be arriving "next Winter."

We're not sure if that means January or December 2012 to be honest, but it's nice to know at least this much. Knowing is half the battle, and all that. Square Enix also took the time to mention that the sequel will feature "game content which exceeds" its 2010 predecessor "in every aspect." Quite the claim, considering how gorgeous Gran Pulse was.

A couple of assets for the game was released to us - cop a load of that in the image thumbnail above. It's only an art piece and a screenshot for now, but it does involve FFXIII heroine Lightning in a rather fetching suit of armour. And showing off a fair bit of leg, at least.

Looks like concerns about the game being a bit of an ogle-fest are completely unsubstantiated so far, right? We all know how FFX-2 turned out. Watch the trailer that was shown this morning at Square Enix's Tokyo press event below.

Motomu Toriyama will be directing this title, and said that FFXIII-2 is a response to fan's opinions on the original 2010 JRPG. Hopefully this means less corridors and more open-world fun!

I enjoyed XIII and X-2. X-2, while the story wasn't as epic as X it was still good, but the battle system was, the "corridors" didn't bother me a lot in XIII but limiting how much I could level up was unfair more so that when the leader dies it's game over, I once died on first boss because of that though it was kind of my mistake, Lightning was right at the front and both hand attacked before I could use a potion so she took both hits.

looks retarded - XIII was a terrible game and a rushed out sequel isn't going to change that - Final Fantasy died a long time for me
