Nintendo 3DS Will Feature Friend Codes

Cue endless number-crunching.

Nintendo 3DS Will Feature Friend Codes
Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition will feature friend codes for online play, pretty much confirming that Nintendo's 3DS won't be changing how you connect to the internet.

The details were discovered in a recent Famitsu magazine, which stated that Capcom's portable brawler will include custom matches, random matchmaking and friend battles online. In order to play these modes however, you're going to need to input your pal's code, which consists of a long line of numerical figures.

It is unknown whether the friend codes will be console-wide or if users will be handed a different code for each game, but it's a safe bet that Nintendo won't be messing with the setup the DS had if it's not willing to ditch the feature entirely.

My kids don't have any PSN or Live friends I don't approve, I can cope with Nintendo On-line account too, maybe the problem isn't the content on-line or even the weirdos out there maybe just maybe parents should monitor and assess children on-line and gaming activities... just sayin like!

Just because It says friend code, doesn't mean it's the same thing. Capcom didn't use friendcodes before, because the company hated them. Just because a new system comes out, doesn't mean that a company will start using them. It's probably been improved.
Also they said it will have lag-free random worldwide online matches.
so.......
The way you connect to the internet WILL be different.

Yeah, like, a complete replacement to the Internet! There is no way to guarantee a lag-free worldwide connection - unless you maybe prearrange routing through only the fastest pipes and fewest hops.

I call BS on this one.

What they'll probably do is assess lag between players and then match you up with people who don't have lag. Of course, that will probably end up being more "the bloke down the other end of the street" rather than worldwide.
