The director of TV show Spaced and recent video game influenced comic-turned-film Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, Edgar Wright, has spoken in a recent video interview regarding his fear of having a console at home after a stint of addiction to Playstation titles.Wright explained that during the filming of sitcom
Spaced he had a period where in his own words "At some point I had what I can only call a troubled couple of months on
Resident Evil 2 and
Tomb Raider 3 – and [the PlayStation] had to go".
Recent directing duties on the
Scott Pilgrim film did help to reignite Wright's interest in the medium, picking up a PS3 to give the old-school scrolling beat-em-up version of
Scott Pilgrim a spin.
Guess those influences worked out rather well given that Wright included samples and playing of
Resident Evil 2 in an episode of
Spaced and made a clear homage to zombie movie and game lovers everywhere with the release of
Shaun of the Dead.
