Hudson is doing a little experiment on the Japanese PSN store, by offering card-based battle game Elemental Monster Online Card Game for a mere 100 Yen. The studio aims to make up the difference in microtransactions.
As one of the cheapest titles to hit the service, Elemental Monster Online Card Game will feature a 10-hour single player mode with 50 stages of CPU battle play for your virtual ¥100 coin. But online play against human opponents will cost you "play tickets" at a rate of an additional ¥100 for a set of four.
Once your online session is completed, you will obtain a new card to add to your collection. Hudson also plans to offer Booster Boxes with multiple cards for ¥500 each. Collaborations with popular artists are teased, as well as a soundtrack from Streets of Rage music legend Yuzo Koshiro.
The game is due for a release on the 22nd December. What do you think - a good, marketable idea in this world of free-to-play browser games?
