Smash your cars, not your console.

PS3 Patch Day: GT5 Damage, Console Security
It's a PlayStation 3 Patching Double Whammy today, as Sony has unleashed updates for both Gran Turismo 5 and the console that you hopefully have set aside to actually run the thing.

For the racing fans out there, the good news. GT5's patch comes complete with mechanical damage so you can tear away and trash those cars to your heart's delight. The update covers both single-player and online modes, with the option to choose how heavy your damage can become when playing on PSN.

The patch is a 150MB download though, so make some tea. You're going to need the new PS3 firmware update in order to take advantage of the lovely smashing action, though.

The PlayStation 3 firmware update is decidedly more boring, merely adding 'more security' measures to your console. Which could easily be translated as 'knocking out more piracy devices.' Hope you didn't get Jimmy that PS.Jailbreak for Christmas...
