Tomb Raider: New Lara Forgets Herself

"After a brutal storm destroys the boat she was travelling on, a frightened young woman is left washed ashore on an unknown beach. On her own but not alone she has only one goal, to survive" - that's Square's introduction to the new Crystal Dynamics' developed Tomb Raider.

Yup, it's a 'reboot' or a re-imagining of the ancient and revered franchise. "Forget everything you knew about Tomb Raider", Darrell Gallagher, Head of Studio, Crystal Dynamics, tells the PR people disingenuously. "This is an origins story that creates Lara Croft and takes her on a character defining journey like no other."

Apparently, the game "makes its worldwide debut in the January issue of Game Informer magazine." Again not strictly true. What makes its worldwide début is not the game but a piece of advertorial disguised as a 'feature'.
