Students Hack Kinect to Control PC Web Browsers
Kinect is doing all kinds of wonderful things for your family party and fitness regimes, but don't you wish it could have more functionality? Some students at the MIT Media Lab Fluid Interfaces Group have gone and tweaked the motion-sensing device to be used with a PC web browser.

In the technical demo, you can see the coders testing the Kinect whilst hooked up to some computer hardware with the ability to read gestures. A new script called DepthJS uses Javascript to communicate with the peripheral and translate various movements into actions for various applications.

Of course, having to swipe down pages and clutch hyperlinks like a gorilla isn't exactly elegant, but the important thing is that it can be done - and this opens up new possibilities for PC software and tech that can really benefit from devices like Kinect. Take a look below and see what you think.
