Star Wars Arcade Brings Augmented Reality Gaming to iPhone
It's only a matter of time before the world of Star Wars becomes a reality and we are all enlisted to fight off Tie Fighter ships invading our planet from the Death Star. With an iPhone and augmented reality game Star Wars Arcade: Falcon Gunner, you can prepare for that eventuality.

Developed by Vertigore games with 30 people and a six-figure budget, it is clearly one of the more ambitious titles to hit the Apple device. Using a capable iPhone (3GS or 4), you physically rotate yourself around a 360-degree environment where you must use touch-screen controls to aim and fire the Millennium Falcon's laser turret.

You can either play the game with a Star Wars background - in space, with the Death Star looming on the horizon - or you can flip on the augmented reality mode and take out Tie Fighters against whatever environment the iPhone's camera is seeing. It'll be interesting how many people will use this on the plane.

The game is available on US iTunes right now for iPhone, at $4.99 - an iPad version is incoming. We just checked the UK store, and there's no sign of the app. Get to it Vertigore - you know what needs to be done! Watch an awesome video of the game being played against the New York City backdrop below.

It's on the UK iTunes store now at £2.99. May just give it a try...
