Square Enix Extends Final Fantasy XIV Trial - Again
Played Final Fantasy XIV yet? We have, and it's not that great (to put it kindly). To encourage more people to play the game despite all of its flaws, Square Enix is extending its free trial period for a second time.

The game was released in September with a 30-day trial for new players to get to grips with the fantasy world. When scathing reviews and discontent from players were made public, the publisher added another 30 days to the trial. Now there's a potential 90 days of free Final Fantasy XIV for consumers to enjoy.

Square Enix said that the reason for the change was to allow players to "experience these changes firsthand before deciding to fully commit to the game." A post on the game's official site reads, "We encourage everyone to view... the development team's roadmap for the coming months. Further details regarding payment options and future version updates will be posted as they become available."

CEO Yoichi Wada expressed to MCV recently of the MMO's troubles, stating the importance of turning its quality around to make users return to the game. At this rate, the game may as well be a free-to-play model.
