Starcraft II Torrented 2.3 Million Times
The website TorrentFreak has reported that MMORPG Starcraft II has been downloaded via the client BitTorrent a staggering 2.3 million times since release.

The article details five torrent files that broke mind boggling records with the illegal downloading of Starcraft II reaching astronomical levels. The site reports that:

“The most popular torrent file for this 7.19Gb game has been downloaded 2.3 million times, totalling a massive 15.77 Petabytes,”

The game was released back on July 27th which means that the volume of downloads have taken place over a period of four months, averaging out at 625,000 downloads a month. No surprise then that publisher Blizzard has had to deal with a large number of pirates for the illegal download of its latest title in the series.

There will be less and less PC games due to the quantity of pirating.
I wish there was a way of tackling this that doesn't include expensive DRM...

@gingineer

Steam based services are best when accompanied with on-line services in the game, getting rid of physical media for PC gamer seems the only way forward. and sure people will still pirate that stuff but it will be very hard to get on-line with them.

Starcraft 2 is not a MMORPG. It's a RTS.
