Darkspore - the RPG from Maxis - is getting a public beta, that you can sign up for given that you're a member of the public.
Unlike the last game that Maxis brought to the world, the 'evolutionary' Spore, Darkspore is a "a fast-paced, sci-fi Action-RPG in which you battle across alien worlds to save the galaxy from the mutated forces of Darkspore."
It does share on thing with Spore though... "Make your heroes truly unique and deeply customized in an enhanced version of the award-winning Spore Creature Editor."
