Vanquish didn't manage to break into the UK Top 10 Chart this week, but that hasn't stopped SEGA from being slightly optimistic about the game's performance, with the publisher revealing it is 'encouraged' by sales of Platinum Games' latest.Mike Hayes, president of Sega West, told
IGN that the company understood the challenges that it faced in releasing a new IP during the competitive Autumn season. "The challenge is that it's a new franchise and that it's releasing head-to-head with a lot of established franchises in the busiest time of the year.
"It's been in the marketplace for two days, we've seen the day one numbers and we're reasonably encouraged, but I think we need to see the rest of week one and probably week two just to see how it's going to play out."
The somewhat positive comments are a stark contrast to those of disappointment from Namco Bandai following the performance of Ninja Theory's
Enslaved - another new IP that has had trouble in the market, although it managed to break into the Top 10 in its first week on sale.
