The community manager at Team 17, Mark Baldwin, has provided details of the company's upcoming PSP title Worms: Battle Islands with the Official Playstation blog.
In the post Baldwin explains that the third iteration of the famed franchise to hit the PSP will include forty different weapons and utilities to strategically eliminate the opponent. There will also be six different environments for players to fight over, taking their inspiration from modern conflicts in the real world.
Players will also be able to choose from five multiplayer modes which will include Deathmatch Mode, Fort Mode and Racing Mode (think Mario Kart with worms). There will also be a Tactics Mode where players will start with a secret island base. From here they will play a regular round of Worms with the victor being able to claim a trophy from their opponent's island.
Worms: Battle Islands will allow up to 4 players at once either via ad-hoc play, via the internet through an infrastructure network or even on the same PSP which is quite a smart idea if you and your friends are travelling on a long journey together (just make sure the sly one in the group doesn't cheat!)
