Who else was as surprised as we were when Yakuza of the End was announced last month? Mixing story-heavy mafia brawling with undead firefighting is a hell of a cocktail, and SEGA has just released a trailer detailing some of the finer aspects of this fabulous spinoff.
Gameplay appears to be inspired somewhat by Capcom's Resident Evil series, with Kazuma Kiryu and a selection of friends aiming at zombies from a behind-the-shoulder third-person perspective. Each of the four announced characters carries their own special weapon too - Ryuji Goda, a doppelganger of Kazuma's from Yakuza 2, is running around with a bionic arm that can turn into a railgun for example. Where he got that from is anyone's guess, really.
Yakuza 4's Akiyama-san dual-wields pistols, series frenemy Goro Majima's specialty is the pump-action shotgun and the Dragon of Dojima himself rocks with a huge, heavy-duty sniper rifle. There will be actions, similar to that of Yakuza's HEAT scenes, where your character will perform an extraordinary feat to wipe out several undead enemies at once.
It seems that despite the change to gunplay, this will very much be a Yakuza game in every other aspect - from the hostess girls to the adventuring. Watch the video below and get a glimpse of the incoming madness. It's eight minutes long, but totally worth it.
