Ubisoft has surprised the world by acknowledging the existence of cult classic Beyond Good & Evil - the game will be getting a high-definition re-release on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.Beyond Good & Evil HD will be a 1080p reworking of the 2003 original, and will feature revamped character models, improved textures and a remastered soundtrack alongside the obligatory addition of Achievements and Trophies. It will be released next year.
For those of you who have never played the title - and it's understandable, given that it didn't sell particularly well despite its critical acclaim - it centres on a freelance photographer named Jade whose home becomes attacked by an alien race. Using
Legend of Zelda-esque gameplay mechanics, you have to use your investigative skills to expose a conspiracy surrounding the invasion.
It was created by Michel Ancel, the brains behind
Rayman. A sequel has constantly been mentioned, but development has been kept firmly away from public eyes.
It's still in production though, honest. Apparently.
