Electronic Arts intends to overthrow the Call of Duty series with Medal of Honor in the same way its FIFA games have arguably surpassed Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer titles. The publisher's European boss, Jens Uwe Intat has said that the process will take a couple of years to happen - just like
FIFA - but is confident that the tide will change from Activision's brand to EA's own.
"In the years to come, we’re definitely going to beat Activision and
Call of Duty," Intat said. "We’re not going to outdo
Call of Duty this year but it will get dangerously close. This is going to be a journey, as it has been with the way
FIFA overtook
PES."
The exec also mentions DICE's
Battlefield series, which is a second "IP bullet in our gun." According to Intat,
Bad Company 2 came "close to outperforming
Modern Warfare 2" in some countries.
Of course, Intat forgets to call attention to the third bullet in the gun - the ex-Infinity Ward chaps at Respawn Entertainment. Would you accept our new EA FPS overlords should this prediction come to pass? Do you think
Black Ops and Sledgehammer's offering will see
Medal of Honor off?
