Pokemon Black and White was released to a feverish Japanese populace in the past week, with chart tracker Media Create declaring the RPG title as having the best first week sales total in its history. Both Black and White versions together clocked up a sales total of 2.5 million units in its first two days.1 Pokemon Black/Pokemon White Pokemon Company (DS) 2,557,779 / NEW

It leads a fierce week for new releases in Japan, and while Pokemon has commanded the Top 10, there's still room for some impressive sales of the #2 entry,
Front Mission Evolved and #3's
Yu-Gi-Oh title. Bungie's
Halo: Reach enters the Japanese chart at #4 with nearly 45,000 units sold - a positive performance for a game that's currently smashing records in other parts of the world.
The massive Pokebombshell and avalanche of new titles means most of the old Top 10 residents have been evicted, with the only long-tail games being
Super Mario Galaxy 2,
Taiko Drum Master DS and
Wii Party. Last week's #1,
One Piece: Gigant Battle and Capcom's
Monster Hunter spinoff also remain in the Top 10.
