The Corporate Vice President for Microsoft Game Studios Phil Spencer has explained that fans of the blockbuster franchise Halo can expect future titles in the franchise on a more frequent basis.Spencer explained that, "There's no explicit strategy that says we're to ship a
Halo game every year. I will say I think one
Halo game every three years, which was kind of our old cadence, is probably not frequent enough."
He also recognised that were Microsoft to leave long gaps in the franchise between releases would prove more detrimental than maintain the success that the series has experienced to date.
Spencer was also quizzed as to whether Activision's success with the
Call of Duty franchise has played any part in the ramping up of future
Halo releases. Spencer replied:
"We have some unique challenges and opportunities with Halo because it is a story based game built around a certain set of characters, which is a bit different than what they do with Call of Duty. Not better or worse, it's just different."
Interested in receiving yearly releases of new instalments in the
Halo series or do you think it would lower the FPS' overall quality? Any thoughts please post them in the comments below.
