The director of upcoming title Yakuza: Of the End, Toshihiro Nagoshi, has discussed some of the details for the upcoming title regarding gameplay systems and the accessibility of the title for new and old players of the franchise. He endeavoured to quell fan's fears of the franchise taking an unexpected direction with the latest instalment having players caught up in a zombietbreak in the game's notorious Kamuro-cho, a rrrre-imagining of real life
Kabuki-cho near Shinjuku, Tokyo. He explained that "It will be different from typical zombie or panic games,"
"The game will still have the same focus on "human drama" that its predecessors had" but added regarding familiar play areas in Kamuro-cho that "they will all exist in a new form."
After the stage event for the title at TGS, Nagoshi held a Q & A session where he further explained that he wants players to focus on a "panic action" feel in the game rather than refer to the title as a mere "zombie game". He also commented on one of the gameplay systems in the game, referred to as the "Gun Shot Battle" system which will differentiate itself from standard third-person shooter fair by focusing more on "shooting things up while you progress" than "aiming well and shoot."
Nagoshi concluded by saying that "The gameplay is being made so that even those who aren't good at action games will be able to enjoy themselves". "The hurdles will definitely not be high, so take ease."
The game will allow players to choose from four characters from the off, each with their own trademark weapon: money-lending Akiyama with his twin pistols; eyepatch-wearing Majima with his shotgun; the 'Kansai Dragon' Goda with his Gatling Arm and the series' main protagonist Kiryu with his rifle. Other weapons will also be available in the game and they can be powered up as you progress through the different stages.
In the vein of "Heat Action" moves which allowed Kazuma to carry out more substantial attacks for higher damage in the
Yakuza games, this time around "Heat Snipe" moves will be available to the player which will aid in precise targeting of the enemy, shooting barrels or gas pipes to cause explosions as well as flashy barrages on the ensuing zombie hordes.
There will also be a "Partner System" included in the game which will allow you to team up with allies that will assist in taking out the zombies as well as combining your efforts to carry out Heat Snipe moves together.
