Bungie's sci-fi series swansong, Halo: Reach, is at the top of the UK Video Game Charts this week. That much is no surprise, given its huge marketing push and the fact that it's really rather good, isn't it? The prequel stands as Microsoft's biggest ever launch week and the fifth biggest UK launch ever. Outselling
Halo 3's launch by 20,000 units (and
Halo 3: ODST's by nearly 200,000) is quite the feat, though.
What is surprising is what's immediately below
Halo: Reach. Sony's
Sports Champions, essentially the PlayStation Move's answer to
Wii Sports, has claimed the #2 spot, pushing
Mafia II down to #3.
The impressive performance of the motion-controller's launch title is particularly so, given that it wasn't a pack-in for the device. The only other PlayStation Move exclusive titles to chart were
Start The Party! at #29 and
Racket Sports at #32 (it's probably because they didn't spell 'Racquet' properly). Move-enabled core titles such as
Toy Story 3 and
Tiger Woods remain in the Top 10, though.
