The new Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit game will feature a game world four times bigger than that of developer Criterion's last open-world racing game, Burnout Paradise.Criterion's Matt Webster
was asked to detail the scale of the cop-chase racer's terrain. That 4X game world allows "for cars to be able to usefully reach 260 miles an hour. So [there's] well over 100 miles of tarmac road & 30-40% more off-road & shortcut areas," he said.
"We've opened a lot of that space up for race & chase as you are playing online versus human cops, at night time you can just turn your lights off and hide behind a bush, something that isn't really achievable with AI, when you include elevation changes its a chunk of room so for anyone familiar with
Burnout it's about 4 times larger."
Happy about the huge driving space? What would you like to see in
Hot Pursuit that you found lacking in
Burnout Paradise? Comments, as always, in the forum below.
