The ability to play as the Taliban in Medal of Honor's multiplayer mode has led the United States' Army and Air Force Exchange Services to ban the game from being sold from on-base GameStop stores.GameStop commented on the situation in an email to employees, stating that the company "fully supports AAFES in this endeavor and is sensitive to the fact that in multiplayer mode one side will assume the role of Taliban fighter.
"GameStop has agreed out of respect for our past and present men and women in uniform we will not carry
Medal of Honor in any of our AAFES based stores... As such, GameStop agreed to have all marketing material pulled by noon today and to stop taking reservations."
Customers wanting to reserve or purchase
Medal of Honor will be referred to a nearby off-base chain store, the email concluded.
Medal of Honor attracted the ire of British Defence Secretary Liam Fox last month, again due to the inclusion of the option to play as as the Taliban in multiplayer.
