Id Software: Only Thing Stopping RAGE Hitting Deadline is Carmac's Rocket-Based Death

Tim Willits, the creative director of iD's upcoming title RAGE moved away from the good old days of 'the game will be ready when it's ready' to assure the world that the release date for the game will only move if John Carmac blows up in a rocket.

The title is due for release in the US on September 13th 2011. Europe gets it on September 15th 2011. When quizzed as to whether the date is set in stone, Willits replied:

"Trust me, I would be in deep trouble if this thing got delayed. Something really bad would have to happen. If John [Carmack] blows himself up in a rocket, we may miss it."
