New Op Flashpoint Outed - Red River

Fighty battle madness but not a follow-up to Red Hammer

Tajikistan... according to the CIA it has 1,461,896 males age 16-49 and 1,642,240 females age 16-49 ready for military action. It's also the setting for the next Codemaster's Operation Flashpoint game: Red River.

We love the opening line of the official news, "Set to deliver an authentic and intensely personal US Marine Corps infantryman experience, Red River’s epic campaign will be played out on a deadly new battlefield set in the remote yet beautiful country of Tajikistan along the Vakhsh River."

Let's say that again, "an authentic and intensely personal US Marine Corps infantryman experience" - that's the new way of saying, "Shoot the sh*t out things in a fun game!"

In terms of game play, there are "three distinct acts in both single player and drop-in-drop-out co-operative play for up to four players online... players will be able to team up with their friends to play through additional co-operative game modes.

"Whether escorting a convoy to safety under heavy fire, or falling back from the enemy against almost insurmountable odds, each unique mode will test players’ tactics and teamwork in distinct ways. New player class roles mean that gamers can play the way they want, honing skills in their chosen fields as they rank up through the new XP reward system and customise their equipment with numerous upgrades."

The baddies for this one are the Chinese.

Game's out in 2011 on console and PC.
