Although originally scheduled for release by the end of this year, EA confirmed that its upcoming title Crysis 2 will be delayed. And it's delay will see one hell of a release window for the company. The announcement was made during EA's first-quarter financial results report meeting and although this means players wont be playing one of the best looking FPSs this Christmas it will at least lessen the stack of games they'll have to work through in that period anyway. Continue looking forward to it early next year.
Sitting in the "Electronic Arts Reports Q1 FY11 Financial Results" report is the fact that the game is now slotted for Q4 of 2011. That's a release period between January-March 2011 for the game to normal people.
Also due for release in this slot are:
Dragon Age 2,
Bulletstorm,
Fight Night Champion,
The Sims Medieval,
Darkspore and
Need for Speed Shift 2.
With this lot shipping after Christmas - a surprise for the perennial Xmas favourite of
Need for Speed - this suggests that EA is banking on both Move and Kinect to deflect the Holiday season cash at hardware, leading publishers to benefit during the New Year sales.
