The European Computer Trade Show ends today and the winning games at the show have been announced. Voted for by a team of European journalists, the results are as follows:
Best Multiplayer Game – Anarchy Online (Funcom) – PC
Best PC Game – Project Nomad (CDV)
Best Handheld Game – Denki Blocks (Rage) – Game Boy Advance
Best Console Game – Universal Studios (Kemco) – GameCube
Overall Best Game – Denki Blocks (Rage) – Game Boy Advance
We’re sure you will agree that the results are surprising, and perhaps even a little disappointing. The non-appearances from Microsoft, Sony and Sega meant that most upcoming A-list titles weren’t up for the award. Nintendo had their own show on the Saturday before ECTS and were also excluded from the voting.
The minimal attendance from software houses resulted in what was ultimately a poor show. There was minimal GameCube presence, and all other forthcoming platforms were absent.
So, do we look forward to ECTS 2002? Of course we do, provided there’s a show to go to.
