This thing just does not die!
After last week's Spring splurge of new games, things are calming down a little bit in the Japanese Software Chart this week (3rd - 9th May 2010, courtesy Media Create). Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2 still remains at the top of the tree, with Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker behind it.

1 Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2 – Square Enix (DS) – 252,862
2 Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker – Konami (PSP) – 140,591
3 New Super Mario Bros. Wii – Nintendo (Wii) – 46,690
4 Tomodachi Collection – Nintendo (DS) – 33,342
5 Mario Kart Wii – Nintendo (Wii) – 32,340
6 Wii Fit Plus – Nintendo (Wii) – 23,314
7 Super Street Fighter IV – Capcom (PS3) – 20,084
8 Pokemon Ranger: Tracks of Light – Pokemon Company (DS) – 20,007
9 Wii Sports Resort – Nintendo (Wii) – 15,902
10 NieR Replicant – Square Enix (PS3) – 15,858

(Note: Chart position is first, then game name, publisher, format and sales for this week)

With no new releases hitting the Top 10 this week, it's worth mentioning the almost cult-like revival of Nintendo games on the chart. If you count the re-entry of Pokemon Ranger: Tracks of Light, Wii and DS first-party titles are dominating this list. New Super Mario Bros. Wii climbs up to #3, while Tomodachi Collection sees yet another rise to #4. Mario Kart Wii and Wii Fit Plus are close behind.

The only thing breaking up the Nintendo madness is Capcom's Super Street Fighter IV at #7. NieR Replicant slides further, but still manages to cling onto the bottom of the Top 10 for dear life.
