Respawn Entertainment, the company set up by ex-Infinity Ward execs Jason West and Vince Zampella under the watchful wallet of Electronic Arts is "a total reset" and "ground-breaking" according to each of the parties involved. Speaking to the
LA Times via tame journalists Alex Pham and Ben Fritz, Zampella states, "This is a total reset. We're starting again from ground zero. It's daunting and exciting".
This comes while the duo remain in legal battle with Activision Blizzard over rights to Infinity Wards properties and payments. Zampella continues, "We have learned the hard way, that the best way to ensure the integrity and quality of your work and make sure the fans get what they deserve is to own the intellectual property."
This would make it appear more than a little obvious that a case against Activision Blizzard of ownership of the Infinity Ward IP may be a little problematic.
For its part EA, via Frank Gibeau, is full of the idealistic fervour we've all come to expect from large video games publishers in recent years. "...the fact that they were in this situation was a stunning opportunity for us", says Gibeau.
