The Japanese release date of Super Mario Galaxy 2 has been revealed by Nintendo on the game's official website. Lucky gamers in the land of the rising sun will be able to pick up the intergalactic sequel from the 27th May.

Other small nuggets of information include 2-player co-op play, three save slots and Wii Remote and Nunchuk controller configurations. Which we sort of know already, having played the first game and all.

Oh, and of course, Yoshi's in it. Awesome.

Some new screenshots have also been released by Nintendo for the occasion. Check them out by clicking the picture above, which will go straight to the gallery.
