The BBC's official announcement of Doctor Who: The Adventure Series might have been a bit hush-hush on the story, setting and monster details, but that hasn't stopped the game's creators dropping a few breadcrumbs. Early details suggest the Arctic, post-Apocalyptic London, Daleks and Cybermen.

Talking to Develop Steven Moffat, executive producer on both the show and the game, said "...you think ‘Well, what do you want to play at?’ Doctor Who isn’t about deferred pleasure, so if you want Daleks you get Daleks. And the Cybermen. We’re not going to make people wait two years to play that episode. All the good stuff, we made sure it’s in those first games."

The fact that budget constraints evaporate (at least to some extent) was referenced a couple of times. Piers Wenger (another show and game exec) said, "The other thing for us, on the other side of the fence, is that The Adventure Games mean we can now do things in those episodes that we can’t do in the TV show. We long to go to alien planets and to blow up the centre of London and go on the Underground in a post-apolcalyptic world, but we can’t do them on TV sometimes." Yeah, blown-up London. Post-apocalyptic settings are a bit more common in games than they are in TV, but never mind...

That environment was also referenced by Phil Ford over on the PC Gamer blog: "When I was first approached about it, there were already some ideas in the mix. Sumo had done this footage of the Tardis arriving in a ruined Trafalgar square. The Doctor Steps out and London has been razed to the ground."

He went on to add that, "With the Cybermen, it was about the idea of telling a story which would be difficult for us to do in a live-action TV show budget. Which is why it happens in the Arctic. And the third one is underwater, which I was very keen to do from the moment they asked. I've wanted to do a Doctor Who story set underwater for a long time."

Charles Cecil, who's working on the series with Sumo Digital (and is also the creator of the Broken Sword series), added "the stories are more ambitious than an episode. They tell more story."

So far so good.
