In the wake of recent DRM controversy, Electronic Arts has removed the SecuROM security system in an update to the PC version of Battlefield: Bad Company 2.The removal only affects the non-disc version found on Valve's Steam service, but the move should be no less welcomed by players disheartened by publishers jumping on the DRM bandwagon.
The security has not been removed for the multiplayer side of the game according to
Shacknews, meaning those with and without SecuROM'd editions can play together.
Other graphical and technical improvements have been included in the patch, including password problems with certain users and server browser updates.
