Alan Wake is marketed as an interactive TV action show, with each chapter acting like an episode of a high-profile mystery series. We know that downloadable content will expand on these 'episodes', but so far Remedy has been tight-lipped on what exactly we will see. At GDC, managing director Matias Myllyrinne said that it hopes to create several DLC packs this year."Right now, I'm not allowed to say what we're doing exactly this year. But we're going to have more than one episode come out this year," Myllyrinne told
Joystiq.
He revealed that there will be at least two additional episodes to download after the game's initial release, but any more than that will depend on audience reception.
Myllyrinne continued, "I think it'll depend a lot on the audience, but certainly we want to -- if we're successful -- we want to do a large 'Season 2,' if you will, at some point."
The sentiment
echoes the news we broke back in February, where Remedy's Oskari Häkkinen revealed to SPOnG that a sequel would act as a new 'season' of content.
With DLC episodes intended to be a bridge between potential seasons - and not a full-on continuation of the main storyline - it will be interesting to see how many 'sidestory' episodes Remedy will create before moving on to progressing Alan's story further.
