Warner Bros recent purchase of Batman Arkham Asylum developer Rocksteady is not simply a quick tilt at gaming.Josh Berger, the president and managing director of Warner Brothers Entertainment UK explains that, "We decided to become a substantial player in this space. Different players have been in the video-game business with varying degrees of success and failure. For us, the content is in our lifeblood, and we're in for the long haul."
This echoes what Berger said following WB's
purchase of Traveller's Tales back in 2007. Then Berger
stated, "We're interested in being a substantial player in this space. I think with the Traveller's Tales deal and some other associations that we've got, we're now in that space.
"I wouldn't be surprised to see other things happen, but we're only going to make other deals when they're right, they fit in with the strategy and they're a good fit for us - but nothing to announce at the moment."
