Following months of rumour and speculation, it has emerged that the game has been canned for Dreamcast in another blow for dedicated Sega gamers.
“We will probably not be out on the DC. We will be out on other new-gen platforms,” said Greg Johnson of ToeJam and Earl Productions. “As to which ones and when, we should be able to post this on our website in a couple of weeks.”
Although this in itself doesn’t sound completely final, you can bet your bottom dollar that the ToeJam team is currently trying its luck in porting the game code across to PlayStation 2, Xbox and GameCube as we speak.
It seems a shame that games so near to completion can get cancelled in such a way. It is without doubt that ToeJam and Earl will see the light of day on one next generation platform or another, but surely this could have sat alongside a Dreamcast version.
We will bring you the fate of the game when the decision has been made, which should be in the next few weeks.
