Hands up who downloaded the Aliens vs Predator demo on your PC when it was released yesterday? Yeah, loads of you. That's the reason why you might have been having problems joining and finding games online, as Rebellion cited “unprecedented demand” as the cause for the server issues.Fear not though, for the studio has been working hard to patch things up. Speaking via a post on the
Sega forums (through community rep 'CaptainHaddock'), it announced that later in the day the issue was corrected for the PC version by way of a Steam patch.
“While this issue did not affect the Xbox 360, we are with SEGA's assistance investigating reports of a similar nature on the PlayStation 3 and working flat out on a solution,” reads the statement.
“The full game features the ability to browse for and create games, but for the purposes of simplicity the demo was limited to matchmaking, alongside the ability to set up groups with friends which mitigated yesterday's issues for many.”
No time frame was given for a PS3 fix, but at least they're addressing it so soon after the demo's release.
