Konami and Disney team up. What happened to Square?
Konami of Japan and Disney have jointly announced that they are working on a new PlayStation 2 and Game Boy Advance game. Known at this point in time as Adventure of Tokyo: Disney Sea, the new title will be an action RPG with collecting elements.

The game will be an explore-em-up and will see the player travel around a Disney inspired version of Tokyo, collecting Disney trading cards. A bespoke PlayStation 2 to Game Boy Advance link device to enable portable trading is heavily rumoured.

This just seems a little strange to us. It’s not long since that Disney announced its intentions to create Kingdom Hearts, an RPG with the genre’s true master SquareSoft.

Remember this? "This new game puts a new twist inside the best-loved worlds of Disney, as you lead the fight to save a kingdom alongside some of your favorite Disney characters. SquareSoft and Disney join forces in creating an entirely new adventure, where new heroes and classic characters embark on an epic quest to free innocent hearts and save a kingdom of lore. The latest innovation from SquareSoft, this epic new story introduces new heroes and challenges while journeying through familiar worlds for an entirely new gaming adventure." It was said in a statement released by Disney earlier this year.

We cannot imagine what must have happened to result in Disney seemingly ditching Square in favour of one of its oldest Japanese rivals. We will bring you more when we get it.
