Gaming Coming to Amazon's Kindle
Amazon is putting out a software development kit that will enable devs to create games for its Kindle eReader.

A limited beta programme will start next month, with participants being able to get "access to programming interfaces, tools and documentation to build active content for Kindle". That "active content" will be available later in the year.

In case you had any doubt as to whether 'active content' includes games, here's Adam Sussman, VP of worldwide publishing, EA Mobile: "Working with Amazon, we look forward to bringing some of the world's most popular and fun games to Kindle and their users."

Exactly what sort of games this will entail for EA remains a bit of a mystery at this point, but the announcement does tell us, "(Mobile games publisher) Sonic Boom is building word games and puzzles." We won't be at all surprised to see more of the same from EA and other companies.

It also looks like EA will be producing games for the rumoured Apple Tablet.

Devs can sign up for the beta and get more details about pricing structures and other such things here.
