Following its re-branding (or should it be 'un-branding') back to Irrational Games from 2K Boston, creative chief Ken Levine has revealed that information on its new game will trickle out shortly after the 2010 Game Developers Conference this March. The man behind
BioShock is rumoured to be working on a shooter, according to job listings on the company's relaunched website, but in an interview with
Gamespot Levin wouldn't give anything away. “This is the year we'll start talking about stuff, and we stop hiding behind the iron curtain of secrecy.”
Once known as Irrational Games before being integrated into Take Two as 2K Boston, the change back was made after people kept referring to the studio by the old name. Now refreshed and working hard on the new unannounced title, Levine says that the current staff of 40 people could rise to 100, with the potential of working on a second project if it didn't compromise on quality.
As for
BioShock, Levine doesn't say whether he will try to regain the franchise for Irrational Games. He simply says that he has no role in
BioShock 2 – a collaboration between numerous Take Two studios including 2K Marin, Digital Extremes, 2K Australia, 2K China and Arkane Studios.
“If I'm going to be involved with something, I'm going to be involved with it. If I'm not going to be involved, I'm not going to be involved. And that's the way it's been with all of our products,” Levine said. “I never want to take credit for anything that's awesome but I didn't do. And my feeling is that, hopefully,
BioShock 2 is going to be awesome. I haven't played it enough.”
