(Last week's position in brackets; this week's position in bold, followed by game title, publisher and the number of weeks it has been in the charts.)

The Wii dancing game had a massive 114% sales boost this week, making it charge past Infinity Ward's hit shooter and Nintendo's Wii Fit Plus, which remained in second through all the ruckus. It's Ubisoft's first #1 since Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 which was released in March 2008.

It also marks an impressive journey to victory for the casual game, which debuted in the Chart-Track All Formats Chart 7 weeks ago at #100, then shot up to #8 a couple of weeks before Christmas before hovering around the Top 10 – coming back later to hit the top spot.

The publisher is clearly pleased at the results. Brand manager Rachael Grant told MCV, “Just Dance is Ubisoft's fastest-selling game on Wii, it was vital for us to get it trialled by consumers. The Just Dance brand is growing and we hope to follow up the success with new iterations.” Advertising on the X-Factor and showcases on The Gadget Show helped propel the game to popularity.

Ubisoft has had a good week in general, with Assassin's Creed 2 sitting at #9 and James Cameron's Avatar: The Game charting in 10th. EA's Army of Two: The 40th Day is the only new entry in the Top 10, charting at #4, while the battle of the brawlers continues with Darksiders moving up to #6 and Bayonetta dropping to 7th.

Ass Creed is far far better thanI expected it to be. I was fairly unimpressed with the first game, but the second on is eating my leisure time in great big mouthfuls at present.
