We reported yesterday that Ubisoft announced a slip of Splinter Cell Conviction and R.U.S.E. From its intended February release into April. This came from company CEO Yves Guillemot, but it sounds like Ubisoft France CEO, Geoffroy Sardin, has other ideas. In discussing the major projects being released in 2010, Sardin told
Gamekult that “
Splinter Cell Conviction [will be arriving] in late February on Xbox 360 and PC.” The interview was posted on the 13th February. Either Sardin was speaking before Guillemot's delay announcement, or there are areas of Ubisoft that need to communicate with each other a little more.
Please ensure to read that carefully, as we are definitely not saying that the game will be out in February. We are quoting Msr Sardin.
In another follow-up to Guillemot's 50% sales slump of its casual Nintendo DS software,
GamesIndustry is reporting that on the back of
surprisingly good sales of
Assassin's Creed II has led to Ubisoft refocusing its efforts on 'core' games rather than more of those '
Petz' games.
“Against this backdrop and with a view to further reducing our exposure to the DS, we intend to continue to refocus our development resources on our major franchises and on the Xbox 360 and PS3, the two consoles which are expected to see sales growth in games for gamers in 2010,” Guillemot confirmed.
